Thank you for your support of the work of Friends of Green Hill Pond. We are working to raise the additional $25,000 needed to complete the final phase of field work necessary for obtaining permits for a project designed to improve water circulation in Green Hill Pond.

You will be pleased to know that Phase 1 underwater mapping by URI scientists is scheduled to begin this week. The work will continue until the pond freezes completely.

I want you to be aware of some recent developments.

Friends of Green Hill Pond officially became a Domestic Non Profit Corporation under the laws of the State of Rhode Island in October. We anticipate additional expenses going forward such as filing fees and insurance as a result.

In addition, Friends of Green Hill Pond recently submitted an application to The Internal Revenue Service in order to have the 501(c)(3) Tax status which would allow your contributions to be tax deductible as allowed by law. Our application to the IRS for tax exemption is currently pending.

Under IRS rules, FOGHP can still offer tax deductibility for contributions made now. However, contributors do not have advance assurance of deductibility. We expect to receive our tax exempt status in early 2018.

If we qualify for exemption, all donations made now will be tax deductible by the donor. Conversely, if FOGHP does not qualify for exemption, the contribution will not be tax deductible.

If you wish to make a contribution by the end of the year, while our application to the IRS is pending, please make your check payable to Friends of Green Hill Pond and mail to:
