2018 is going to be a big year for Friends of Green Hill Pond!    We would very much like you to be a part of it.

As soon as the ice clears, Dr. King and his crew from URI will continue the work they began in November on Phase 1 of our project. The total cost of the project is $100,000. $75,000 has been secured.

You may have already seen the scientists gathering field measurements of the Pond’s  depth, velocity, and water quality   Phase 1 is fully funded by the Town of South Kingstown.

When Phase 1 is completed, Dr. Spaulding  from URI will start Phase 2 to model the movement of Pond water in order to understand the impact of opening up the channel.  Phase 2 is fully funded by Coastal Resources Management Council.

We need your help to raise  $25,000 for Phase 3  in which we will conduct the field work to do sediment sampling, aquatic vegetation surveys and a shellfish survey. All 3 Phases are part of the project, and each Phase must be completed.

If we do not have the funds to do the Phase 3 work, we will not be able to apply for permits from CRMC and the Department of Environmental Management, and we will not be able to complete the project. Please help us finish the job by making a contribution.
