2019 is going to be very important for Green Hill Pond and all of us who cherish it.
We have just set our most ambitious fundraising goal ever from our supporters--$30,000—all to ensure that our Pond is restored and thrives for generations to come.
Your prior generosity has allowed us to offer $41,666 in matching funds which, along with anticipated State and Town support, will fund the engineering work necessary to obtain permits for construction projects aimed at reducing stormwater runoff into our Pond. We hope to hear positive news from them soon.
As noted in prior communications, reducing stormwater runoff is one of the two major strategies for reducing the high bacteria levels that continue to plague our Pond and has closed it to shellfishing for 24 years. The other strategy is increasing water circulation through channel enhancement.
We need your help to keep moving forward next year. Specifically, we need to raise $30,000 to cover:
Phase 3 of the channel enhancement project. This work would encompass additional field work to support permitting such as sampling, engineering designs, and permit application fees.
Matching funds for additional grants that will be requested.
A small contingency fund to handle any unexpected costs associated with the stormwater project.
I know I can count on our dedicated community’s generosity to get us to our goal. We are asking for your help by either donating via credit card through our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/FOGHP/) or by making your check out to FOGHP and sending it to:
